Chief Medical Officer and Orthopedic Surgeon Van Stamos, MD
DES PLAINES, Ill., October 25, 2022—Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI), one of the largest independent, physician-owned orthopedic practices in the United States, has appointed Van Stamos, MD, to the position of chief medical officer (CMO).
Dr. Stamos joined IBJI in 2002 and has over 25 years of surgical experience, specializing in adult hip and knee reconstruction and total joint replacement. He has held a variety of leadership positions at IBJI during his tenure.
“Dr. Stamos brings the institutional knowledge of IBJI’s evolution as a privately owned physician practice over the past 25 years to this position,” says Andre Blom, IBJI CEO. “He is well positioned for building on the platform that our former CMO Dr. William Robb established and advancing the role as intended on behalf of all physician members.”
Dr. Stamos’ longstanding knowledge and expertise will be used to formulate IBJI’s strategic planning, quality and safety improvements, advancements among subspecialties and service lines, and serve as the lead orthopedic liaison with providers and payor markets.

Dr. Stamos attended Northwestern University School of Medicine and was enrolled in the exclusive Honors Program in Medical Education. He then completed the prestigious Otto E. Aufranc Fellowship, one of the top programs in the country for joint replacements.
