DES PLAINES, Ill., September 13, 2023—Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI), one of the largest independent, physician-owned orthopedic practices in the United States, announces that it has raised over $25,000 for Over the Rainbow through its IBJI CARES Foundation 4th Annual Charity Golf Outing and Silent Auction Fundraiser. Over the Rainbow is a Chicagoland-based non-profit that empowers all persons with disabilities, who desire to live independently, find accessible, affordable apartments, and encourages the development of skills that allow them to do so.
A new format this year, the event was held at Topgolf in Schaumburg, allowing for more participants of all ages to take part in the event. More than 140 golfers showed up to Topgolf Schaumburg on Sunday, July 23.
Attendees included IBJI physicians, medical support staff, physical and occupational therapists, patients, friends, and family members. During the day, participants had the opportunity to bid on silent auction items including sports memorabilia, signed Ted Lasso scripts, day clay shooting at the Northbrook Sports Club, and various experiences throughout the Chicagoland area.
IBJI CARES will continue to support Over the Rainbow throughout 2023, including hosting wheelchair washes, supporting their annual Challenge Tour, and volunteering at various holiday fests through the end of the year.

The IBJI CARES Foundation Mission
Caring for the community is the mission of the IBJI CARES Foundation. From spring clean-up days and wheelchair washes, to durable medical equipment drives benefiting developing countries, the philanthropic arm of IBJI continues to come up with new initiatives to bring local and worldwide aid to others. The golf outing remains its biggest event of the year.
“It is always a huge undertaking and we couldn’t be successful without the help of so many,” IBJI CARES Foundation Chairperson Vanessa Yee, PT, DPT, says. "We are so grateful for the generous support of our sponsors, and appreciate the golfers for coming out to our new event format at Topgolf. We look forward to many more successful events in the years to come!”
