Illinois Bone & Joint Institute was proud to be an integral part of the incredible “Breathe Deep North Shore” fundraising event this spring. Sponsored by the LUNGevity Foundation, the Breathe Deep North Shore Fun Run and Walk took place on April 27 in Deerfield.
Illinois Bone & Joint Institute participated as a Silver Sponsor for the event, which broke previous records for both attendance and donations. More than 1600 participants turned out to show their support and raise money to combat lung cancer. In all, more than $210,000 was raised to fund life-saving lung cancer research into early detection methods and treatment.
“This was an amazing event,” said Aaron Sangha of IBJI, “and the physicians and staff of IBJI were honored to join the fight against this devastating disease.” Sangha and IBJI colleague Amy Cassman were on site throughout the event to provide information about IBJI services. “It was a meaningful celebration of the fight against lung cancer and a powerful reminder that each of us has the power to make a difference in the lives of others,” said Cassman. The highlight of the day was a massive balloon launch in honor of everyone whose life has been touched by lung cancer.
