IBJI Welcomes Four New Orthopedic Surgeons

Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI), one of the largest independent, physician-owned orthopedic practices in the United States, is excited to welcome four new surgeons to our practice:

Anas AJ Minkara, MD

Dr. Minkara, a Harvard and Cleveland Clinic-trained spine surgeon, specializes in cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgery. He completed research fellowships at Columbia University and authored a chapter on spine deformity for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Recognized for his compassionate care, Dr. Minkara has received numerous honors and grants, with his work referenced in over 600 publications. His expertise includes minimally invasive surgery, disc replacement, and complex revisions, offering patients faster recovery and improved outcomes. Dr. Minkara and his team use a multidisciplinary approach to provide personalized treatment for each patient.

Dr. Minkara will practice at the Barrington and McHenry Doctors' Offices.

Chintan Sampat, MD, FAAOS

Dr. Sampat, a board-certified spinal surgeon, specializes in both orthopedic and neurosurgery. He is skilled in minimally invasive procedures and cutting-edge techniques, including robotic-assisted spine surgery. In 2018, he performed the first robotic spine surgery at Silver Cross Hospital using the Globus Excelsius GPS system. Dr. Sampat earned a biomedical engineering degree from Northwestern and an M.D. from Finch University. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a spine surgery fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital. He has co-authored textbook chapters, lectured at conferences, and taught at Harvard and UIC College of Medicine.

Dr. Sampat will practice at the Joliet and New Lenox Doctors' Offices.

Theodore L. Schoenfeldt, MD

Dr. Schoenfeldt is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder surgery. He has expertise in endoscopic carpal tunnel release, arthritis treatment, fracture care, and tendon transfers. He completed his hand and upper extremity fellowship at the Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center and his orthopedic surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center. Dr. Schoenfeldt earned his M.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago, graduating in the top 4% of his class. A former Division I volleyball team captain, he values teamwork and provides patient-centered, compassionate care, focusing on both cutting-edge techniques and patient needs.

Dr. Schoenfeldt will practice at the Gurnee and Lindenhurst Doctors' Offices.

Majd Tarabichi, MD

Dr. Majd Tarabichi is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee reconstruction for arthritis and complications from prior joint replacements. He utilizes the latest techniques, including the direct anterior approach for total hip replacement, partial knee replacement, and revision surgery. Dr. Tarabichi completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction at University of California-San Francisco and won prestigious awards for his research at The Rothman Institute. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Zaina, and exploring the outdoors.

Dr. Tarabichi will practice at the Bourbonnais and Tinley Park Doctors' Offices.
