DES PLAINES, Ill., Jan. 26, 2023—Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI), the largest independent, physician-owned orthopedic practice in Illinois, has donated $5,000 to the Misericordia Foundation with proceeds from its 2022 Holiday Giveback Charity Raffle.
Some of the staff, including IBJI Orthopedic Surgeon Leon Benson, MD and his Portuguese Water Dog “Cruise”, a certified therapy dog, had the pleasure of presenting the check at the Misericordia Sweetheart Shoppe in downtown Glenview earlier this month.
“IBJI would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who helped make this a successful fundraiser,” said Laurie Jensen, IBJI Near North Region Marketing Manager. “This donation shows the amazing community impact IBJI’s staff and physicians can make when teaming up to give back. Misericordia was overwhelmed with being chosen as our 2022 charity and for our generous donation.”
The mission of Misericordia is to provide a continuum of care and support for children and adults of all faiths and cultures who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. They provide the highest quality of care designed to meet each person’s changing needs and maximize his/her independence, self-determination, interpersonal relationships, and engagement in the community.

Funds raised for the Misericordia Foundation will go directly into a general fund for programs and services.
“These donations are able to help support the programs that we provide for our residents on a daily basis,” O’Sullivan said.
