Dr. Sherman determined that I had a 90% tear in my left shoulder. My concern was my golf game! As a 10 handicap golfer, I did not want to miss an entire golf season because of surgery and recovery. Dr. Sherman suggested that I try 4-6 weeks of physical therapy to see if they could strengthen the other tendons and muscles that support the shoulder, and allow me to live relatively pain free and still golf this summer.
Well, it worked. I played over 50 rounds of golf since and actually lowered my handicap to an 8.9!
It's proof that a good surgeon like Dr. Sherman recommended therapy first, good physical therapists can help a specific problem, and a patient who follows through on their exercises can accomplish their goals. Thanks to everyone at IBJI!
