After dealing with severe sciatic pain down my left leg for about a month, I decided to visit Dr. Regan. He told me that I had classic symptoms of sciatica and suggested I get an MRI. My MRI revealed a herniated disc on L5. This was quite a shock to me because I was 18 years old at the time and it is more typical for a 40 year old. I still have no clue how I did this.
Dr. Regan was understanding and compassionate towards the whole situation and offered me three options upfront: live with it, physical therapy, or surgery. I opted for physical therapy. After a month of that being unsuccessful in relieving the excruciating pain I was in, I decided to get the surgery. After all the pain and crying myself to sleep every night, I was thrilled to have my surgery on July 26, 2016.
Dr. Regan told my parents afterward that he relieved a ton of pressure off my back. I would say that my recovery time was about three weeks. From that day on, I have been 100% pain free and could not be more thankful for that.
