Biography
Paula Hughes-Barnes earned her medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. She completed a family medicine residency through Cook County Health–Loyola University and an obesity medicine fellowship at Northwell Health in New York. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, American Board of Family Medicine, and a founding member of the Obesity Medicine Consortium.
Dr. Hughes-Barnes believes in the importance of "treating the whole person." She is particularly passionate about the connection between stress, the sleep-wake cycle, and weight management, with additional focus on the emotional influences of disordered eating. Patients often report that, while she is knowledgeable and thorough, what stands out most is her ability to relate and her genuinely caring nature.
