Biography

Dr. Thomas Tingle is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine with honors, and he is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society. Dr. Tingle completed his orthopedic residency at Northwestern University Medical Center in 2003 and spent one year of his training at Children’s Memorial Hospital. He completed his fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Tingle was the assistant team physician for the Houston Astros, Houston Texans, and the University of Houston Cougars. He is currently a fellow of The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery. 

Dr. Tingle joined Northwest Orthopedic Surgery, S.C. in August, 2004. He has been an instrumental part of bringing the specialty of sports medicine to the practice. He has fellowship training in the treatment of complex sports injuries and has a known reputation for helping injured athletes get back to their sport without complication. He is particularly interested in the treatment of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle. Dr. Tingle is an expert in arthroscopy specializing in minimally invasive repair of complex injured structures and damaged joints. His primary focus is ACL reconstruction, arthroscopic shoulder instability repair, and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. 

Dr. Tingle is actively involved with the care of high school athletes in Districts 211 and 214. He is currently the orthopedic team physician for John Hersey High School. Dr. Tingle’s research and publications include ligament molecular structural differences between males and females, rotator cuff repair of the shoulder, and nerve regeneration of the spinal cord.
