Biography

Leona is a certified physician assistant through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She collaborates and works both in the clinical and surgical setting with Dr. Roger Chams. Additionally, she serves as a First Lieutenant in the Illinois Air National Guard, U.S. Air Force, where she works as a physician assistant in the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) Enhanced Response Force Package. In this role, she specializes in rapid response to critical incidents, performing trauma evaluations and field triage during hazmat operations involving mass casualties. Outside of work, Leona enjoys running, volunteering, and traveling abroad. Patient care is her primary passion, and she looks forward to providing the best care to each of her patients.
