At IBJI, we are proud to announce that our Orthopedic Residency Program has been awarded full accreditation by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE). This achievement places IBJI among a select group of elite institutions in Illinois—joining the ranks of UIC, Midwest Orthopedics at Rush, Loyola, University of Chicago, and Northwestern. We are the sixth program in the state to earn this distinction, underscoring the quality and rigor of our residency training.
Our 13-month orthopedic residency offers a comprehensive, hands-on approach to physical therapy, designed to develop clinical reasoning, teaching, and leadership skills. Through mentorship, collaboration with physicians, and immersion in real-world patient care, our residents gain invaluable experience in orthopedic physical therapy.
One of the key features of our program is the full funding provided, which includes reimbursement for the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) exam. This investment in our residents ensures they are equipped with the knowledge and credentials necessary to take their careers to the next level.
As of now, we have completed our first cohort, and our graduate residents are preparing to sit for the OCS board exam in March 2025. We are excited to watch their continued success as they embark on the next chapter of their professional journey.
At IBJI, we are committed to developing the next generation of leaders in orthopedic physical therapy. Through our accredited residency program, we aim to provide unparalleled education, mentorship, and support to ensure that our residents are not only experts in their field but also passionate advocates for their patients’ health and well-being.
